Cumbrian Blue(s)
I’ve been a professional artist for over twenty five years. My research activity has meant an irregular but ongoing association with Universities, Research Centres, Museums and Art Galleries in a variety of contexts. I make artwork for exhibition and to commission, whilst also juggling residencies, writing, curating, teaching and other projects. I am a founder member and Co-Chair of AIR (Artists Interaction and Representation) - the UK’s largest ever representative body for artists.
In 2010 I was awarded PhD by Manchester Metropolitan University for my research project (funded by MIRIAD) - Ceramics Landscape Remediation and Confection - a Theory of Surface. A digital version of the thesis and accompanying visuals are available via a link on my web site.
In August 2011 I took up a post as Professor 2 at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) Norway. I’m also visiting Professor at KHIB - The Specialised Art Academy in Bergen. As a result I often spend periods of time away from my home in Cumbria England. In light of all this, my blog is an erratic affair, affected by my activity at any particular time. My web site....
